In recent years, Fury has sparred with middleweight contender Darren Till in MMA and even entertained fights with Francis Ngannou and heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. pulled off versus Conor McGregor in 2017. The addition of Fury and Joshua further perpetuates the idea of crossover fights, much like Floyd Mayweather Jr. “With my Fight Night lineage, I like guys who can throw their hands pretty well, but it’s not going to be a cakewalk for them versus UFC fighters.” “In our game, Fury and Joshua are great strikers, but they’re going to be in trouble when the fight goes to the ground,” said Hayes. It is an opportunity to speak to their fans as well.”īy infusing the popular UK-based boxers, UFC and EA also tap into a completely different market and demographic, and with a stretch, boxing fans in general, hoping to make the game a commercial success. They certainly have significant fan bases. Both of them were interested in partnering with us, and it was fantastic … Their popularity outside of the UFC speaks to a broader audience. “Heavyweight boxing has definitely seen a resurgence in recent years, and it was just a great opportunity.
“When we’ve brought in other fighters and personalities outside of the sport into the game, they’re very, very popular,” said Hayes. With bandwidth and priority being of the essence, the Canadian-based Hayes’ bread and butter, for the time being, is UFC, and he said playable characters like Fury and Joshua are a big hit with their gaming community. But as soon as I find out when the right time is, I’ll be yelling at people. I don’t think anyone at EA Sports ever said ‘cancel Fight Night.’ It’s really just never the right time.
When EA Sports signed a deal with the UFC, EA said, ‘hey, let’s have this fighting sports team start making this UFC game.’ We’ve just been busy making the UFC game, and it’s been challenging finding solutions for getting spun up and done at the same time. I am good at BOTH games but I can tell you that UFC 3 seems more balanced and a much more fluid system once you get good at the game.“Fight Night didn’t really get canceled. REALLY look at the mechanics and ask yourself "Is it because the controls are better at UFC 2.Or am I just not as good as I want to be at UFC 3?", and really think about it. Its human nature, and honestly, the ego can turn fully grown and accomplished people, into whining children.
Funny enough I remember one time where we got two Akido guys come into the academy at the same time, one was a black belt and one was like a highish belt but not black.I rolled with both and I noticed the lower Akido belt progressed WAAAAAY quicker and actually put me into danger at times, because he embraced going back to square one and learning jiu-jitsu, while the black belt in got angry with me one day because even though he was a white belt, I said "Sure, you can use wrist locks, I need to learn how to defend them" non of it worked and he got armbared a lot, eventually he tried a no hooks RNC on my chin after I let go of one of those armbars and gave him turtle position, I just layed there for a good 40 seconds and let him burn out his arms, he just let go of the choke, stood up and said "You need to check your ego at the door mate! Learn to tap, I did not want to choke you out" and then left the mats. I see it all the time in the academy (BJJ) when Akido or Judo black belts come in.and get noticeably frustrated that they can't beat a blue belt. This probably has already happened in the beta.People don't want to take a step back, people naturally are a little bit insecure and want to be the best in their own world. I expect there to be a massive change in who is actually good at the game, people who tended to get a lot of wins in UFC 2.Will struggle a lot at UFC 3 and may never get the hang of it because they invested heavily into the UFC 2 meta. I will also say this.I kinda expected people to scream at UFC 3's controls and says UFC 2 is better. But not for entirely legitimate reasons.
